Bespoke jewellery should be as unique as its owner and reflect them and their tastes and desires.
It is so wonderful to get to work with a customer in designing and making their new, special piece.
From initial sketches, to carving or fabricating and eventually to the finished piece, bespoke work is truly special to me.
Whether it’s using pre loved gold and stones in order to create something new, or working from an idea or a point of inspiration, bespoke pieces of jewellery are all distinctive and are a brilliant way to shine through your individuality to the outside world.
If you would like to commission a bespoke piece, please get in touch via the contact page and I can walk you through the process. When sending an enquiry, please include the following:
- A brief description of the piece you would like to have made
- If you have pre loved gold or stones that you would like to use
- A rough estimate of your budget
- A timeline for when the piece is needed
- The best way to contact you with details provided
Please bear in mind that bespoke commissions are time consuming, however it depends entirely on the individual piece. I can give a better estimate of how long it will take once I have the above information.
FAQ
Can you make any style of jewellery?
My style is quite varied, in that I enjoy both organic and geometric styles of jewellery. If I believe I can achieve your request, I would be delighted to take it on. If, however, I feel your request would be better suited to another jeweller who I know specialises in the particular style you want, I am happy to refer you to them.
Can you reuse my old gold, silver and stones?
Yes and no. Unfortunately, the time that goes into remodelling silver renders the value of it to be quite low and would end up being more expensive than starting from new. As the value of gold is quite high, I can melt and reuse your gold, provided that it has an original hallmark stamped on it, to verify the fineness or carat of gold. I can visually assess your gold and can confirm if we can use it or not. Remodelling gold is a time-consuming process so will not necessarily reduce the cost of your piece, but I will quote you before any remodelling is started and you can make a decision then. I can also visually assess your stones for re-use; however, I cannot grade stones or accurately identify them if I have not sourced them for you. There is always a risk when re using stones as some can be very delicate, but this can be discussed further once your piece has been assessed.
Can you copy this specific design I saw somewhere else?
No, I cannot copy another artist’s work. My style of jewellery is quite broad though, and if you find you are looking for something specific, we can discuss your ideas and proceed from there.
How long will it take?
As the entire bespoke process can include quite a lot of steps to make sure you will ultimately love the finished piece, it can take a lot of time. It all depends on the individual piece that you are looking for. Once we have had an initial chat, I can give you a better idea of how long it will take, but the minimum amount of time is usually 8 weeks.
Do you require upfront payment?
Once we have agreed upon the design, I require a 50% deposit before any physical work starts. The balance is payable upon completion of the piece and then it will be sent to you.
If you have any other questions about the bespoke pieces but aren’t quite ready to start the commission process, I am more than happy to answer them without any assumptions or commitments made. Please fill out the contact form and I will answer you as soon as I can.
